Blogger's Quilt Festival -Fall 2010

Not sure if I'm doing this right (really don't know the ins and outs of bloggin yet!), but here is my entry for the Blogger's Quilt Festival over at Amy's Creative Side.

This is my Stars & Pinwheels (cute name, huh?) This is so not a newer creatiton of mine, but it is an original design. It's actually one of my very first quilts, hence it's wonkiness, rippled edges and cut off points. However, it was so much fun to make and quilt myself. I used scraps of all the blues and whites I could find, and relished in the challenge of piecing toegther blocks of different sizes. I believe it has shaped my quilting perspective in that I so appreciate and adore scrap quilts. Not only the utility of using up what we already have, but the warmth a scrap quilt delivers, to the body and heart.

It hangs in my living room where I can see it everyday. It grounds me, reminds me that in most cases simpler is best.

Pop over to see the other quilts in the festival. They are awe inspiring and beautiful! Here's the link (I'd add the button, but I just don't know how {grin}). Click HERE.

Enjoy a fun and creative day!

I love how great blues & whites go together in quilts! I also really like the way the stars & pinwheels are scattered together, instead of all lined up in straight rows. It gives the layout more interest :-)
