Painting Again!

Morning all!

After literally YEARS of not designing an original decorative painting project, I accomplished one this summer, and taught it for my local SDP painting chapter, Capitolers, yesterday. I haven't taught a painting class since January, and to say I was a wee bit nervous, well, that would be an understatement!

Here's my project:
We met at the East Greenbush library for a fun painting day, and wow, funny how it all came rushing back to me! So wonderful to see faces of my friends and students there to paint with me. Helen M. came, and she was in the very first painting class I taught 18 years ago! Tina G. arranged the painting day, and she was a crickets teacher, and my teaching assistant for a couple of convention classes a few years ago....well, like almost 10 years ago! EEK!

Here is one of the two pieces Tina painted:

She always finds the best pieces to paint on!

Here is Kathy H. Painting on her beaded plate:

Her piece came out great!

One of the gals suggested I submit this project to a magazine for publication. Funny, before Juliana came along, I submitted to magazines regularly, worked for two of them, wrote pattern books and sold them at trade shows....why does submitting this one little project make me all quivery and nervous?

Just weird I guess.

I'll keep you posted :)

Check it out - Giveaway & Sale at Fresh Squeezed Fabrics

Just found an awesome new blog and fabric shop online. Check out Fresh Squeezed Fabric's blog here and enter their fantastic giveaway for a Cluck Cluck Sew pattern with 10 fat quarters to use in the quilt! So love Allison at Cluck Cluck Sew, and her patterns rock! Once you enter the giveaway, check out the very cool sale at the onlone shop's website - link is on their blog. Whoa, don't know what to choose...

On the weekly challenge, perhaps I should've challenged myself to post on my blog more timely, huh? Anyhoo, I did finish those friendship blocks and the swap is now complete. I'll post a pic soon.

Right now my weekly challenge is getting ready for our 1st ever yard sale on Saturday. After being in our home 16 years, and having 2 kids, you can imagine what a mountain of great stuff we'll have on our front lawn. Bringing back lots and lots of memories as I go thru all of it.

Time to pick up my oldest from a playdate - no more sorting until later! (Don't forget to go over to Fresh Squeezed and enter the giveaway!)

One Thing One Week Challenge

I need motivation to get things done, and I found this cool challenge on Amy's Creative Side blog. So, this week I have committed to starting and finishing 24 complicated friendship swap blocks. Not an easy task with both kids home and my in-laws in town. BUT....it needs to happen.

I did challenge myself to get the house clean before the gal from the county came yesterday to fill out Robbie's evaluation paperwork (for his speech). Whew - and now I love my sort of clean home. Sort of has to be my best for right now.

What can you challenge yourself to do this week - there are two days left  - something that has been tickling at the back of your to do list and is begging to be moved to the top?

Get mine done if you get yours done!

End of kindergarten ;(

Well, it's been a busy couple of weeks around here...my son turned 2 (so hard to believe) and my daughter's first year of elementary school is coming to a close. Lots of parties, picnics, moving up ceremonies (for her buddies) and such.

I am sad that it's going by so fast. Seems like it was the very first day of school.

This mom is proud of her girl, but wish I could slow it all down. Maybe that's why I take ALOT of photos. To remember each day and how precious every moment truly is.

Enjoy the journey!
